Trending in 2020
The holidays are over and the new year is here! Most of our 2020 wedding couples have already booked their venue, and are now beginning to decide upon the theme, color palette, and decor. We have begun to see a shift in decor the past year and wanted to share these inspirations that we feel will continue to trend in 2020. Please visit our Pinterest board to see more ideas!
Geometric Shapes and Celestial Inspiration
We saw this trend begin in 2019 with geometric ceremony arches and centerpiece decor. Triangle arches began this trend, but now we are seeing really amazing shapes decorated with florals, greenery, or draping. We additionally see the geometric shapes on table centerpieces in the form of vases, candle votives, and even place cards. We think that with the ongoing trend of hanging decor, we will see geometric and celestial accents in the form of star-shaped and spherical lighting, deep blue and gold colors, and crescent moon or star themed elements.
Bold Color, Neon, and Iridescent Accents
This is a trend shift that we are excited for. Muted neutrals are still going strong; however, we are excited to see a shift towards more playful colors and decor gaining steam for 2020. We are LOVING the custom neon signs being used for photo backdrops, ceremony decor, and reception decor. We are also seeing the use of glow sticks and bracelets, as well as LED "sparklers" for grand exits. The use of bold colors should be used as pops of color, or accents, in the form of glassware, linens, hanging decor, and/or bouquets. The use of iridescent accents adds sheen to any color palette because it reflects the colors that surround it. We love this for dishware, cutlery, place settings, or backdrops.
Mint Is The New Pink, Interactive Guest Experiences, & Mock-tails
Soft pink has some fresh competition as the go-to accent color. Mint green is making more of an appearance in 2020, and is pairing with gold, peach, and other shades of green to make a fresh, soft color palette. Interactive food stations (think donut boards or champagne walls) are still going strong in 2020. Guest experiences that are on-theme are also becoming more popular. Photo booths have been widely used, but couples are starting to think outside the box and hiring tarot card readers, henna artists, or live animals for their guests to interact with. Finally, an interesting trend we are beginning to see is couples serving a specialty mock-tail. This is a great way to include non-drinkers and adds a personal touch to the party offerings.
Minimalist Stationary & Eco-Friendly Items
Stationary can set the tone of a wedding before the guests even arrive. We are seeing save-the-dates and invitations with clean lines, simple font, and minimal decorations dominating in 2020. In addition, eco-friendly weddings are going strong still into the new year. We have seen native plants and rocks used for everything from confetti to aisle runners. Additionally, bamboo plates and cutlery are a sustainable material when glass and dishware is unavailable. Potable plants, flower seeds, and reusable straws are becoming popular wedding favor items for eco-conscious couples.
Let Your Personality Take Center Stage
The biggest trend we continue to see every year is couples infusing their personalities in all aspects of their wedding day. Some choose to buck traditions and create their own, others continue family traditions. Whatever you choose for your wedding day, be sure it reflects what YOU want as a couple. This is a trend that will never go out of style!
